October 2011 is fast approaching, and with it, major changes to
the legal profession, including the establishment of Alternative
Business Structures and a radical new approach to regulation by the
SRA. The new SRA Handbook, (published in April 2011), introduces an
outcomes focused approach to regulation (OFR) with the intention of
focusing more on the quality of client experience (the outcome), as
opposed to a focus on prescriptive actions (the input).
In addition to these substantial changes, the management of risk
has an ever increasing profile with firms and PII providers.
Alternative Business Structures will undoubtedly increase
competition amongst the providers of legal services, making
excellent client care and service standards more important than
ever.
Our course will help you answer the following questions:
• How can firms meet these challenges?
• What tools are there to help them meet these challenges?
Step Forward Lexcel
The new Code of Conduct reveals many links between regulatory
expectations of firms and the Lexcel Standard. Additionally, Lexcel
is seen by PII providers and many progressive firms as a powerful
Risk Management tool.
Are you interested in examining these links together with risk
management tools and ideas? If so, this seminar is for you.
Who Should Attend?
Anyone who wants to:
• understand more about OFR;
• explore key parts of the new Handbook;
• assess what they already do, and may need to do, in order to
satisfy the new Code;
• explore risk management tools;
• explore how Lexcel can be used as a risk management and
regulatory compliance tool;
• Recognise the links between the Lexcel Standard and the
required outcomes and suggested Indicative Behaviours in the
Handbook.
"We have found that Lexcel has helped us significantly in
ensuring full compliance with the Solicitors Code of Conduct 2007
by providing a structured framework to facilitate the strategic and
operational management of compliance issues."
"Lexcel has proven to be an excellent tool for implementing
no-nonsense principles that fee earners and staff can apply to
their daily work. The Lexcel standards link closely with the
Solicitors Code of Conduct and forms the basis of our office
manual."
No-one will pretend that it is easy but, like anything
worthwhile, the benefits far outweigh the efforts. Lexcel does not
guarantee a firewall against the SRA, but there is a mountain of
evidence to suggest that it greatly helps, and that the SRA are
'pleased to see' when firms have the Standard.
