LDP's Permitted From 31 March 2009
The Law Society has recently
announced that the new rules allowing law firms to take non-lawyers
on as partners will come into force on 31 March 2009. The Law
Society, through the Solicitors Regulation Authority, can authorise
such practices before the introduction of alternative
business structures.
Legal disciplinary practices will
enable non-lawyers to become partners up to a maximum of 25 per
cent of ownership.
The Law Society will be issuing
advice in March to supplement that provided by the SRA, who plan to
amend the Solicitors Code of Conduct so that it will in future
support Legal Disciplinary Practices.
